Apple launches new MacBook line-up, includes MacBook Pro with Retina Display
As expected, Apple has announced a new version of its flagship notebook, the MacBook Pro. The new model of the notebook comes equipped with a dazzling new ‘Retina Display’ with a resolution 2880×1800 pixels on a 15.4-inch display converting to 220 pixels per inch. Additionally, the notebook now gets the latest generation Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs, Nvidia Kepler GPUs, and a thinner design at 0.71-inches achieved by dropping the optical drive. The previous generation MacBook Pro is 0.91-inches thick.
The base configuration of the new MacBook Pro will have a quad core Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, a 15.4-inch Retina Display, 8GB of RAM, a Nvidia GT650M GPU with 1GB of memory, 7 hours of battery life, 256 GB of flash memory, twin thunderbolt ports, USB 2 and USB 3 ports, a new MagSafe connector and a HDMI port. The device ships today onwards for $ 2199, which is approximately, Rs 1,22,584.
Apple did not only unveil the new MacBook Pro but also updated its MacBook Air line of computers along with the 2011 MacBook Pro model which it now sells for a slightly lower price tag. The 11-inch MacBook Air model now starts with a dual core Intel Core i5 processor based on the Ivy bridge architecture clocked at 1.7GHz. Additionally, the device now has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of flash storage and starts at Rs 67,900. The higher end version of the 11-inch model features a 128GB flash drive and costs Rs 74,900.
The 13-inch model in contrast comes with a dual core Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and features 4GB of RAM and starts with a 128GB of flash memory. This model starts at Rs 81,900. The higher end version of the 13-inch MacBook Air features a 256GB flash drive and costs Rs 99,900 . There are multiple build to order configurations as well which include support for up to 8GB of RAM and 512 GB of flash storage and 2.0GHz i7 processor.
Apple has also updated the 2011 version of the MacBook Pro which now is only available in 13-inch and 15-inch models. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is available with a 2.5 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of memory and 500GB hard drive starting at Rs 81,900. The higher end version of the 13-inch model and with a 2.9 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of memory and 750GB hard drive starting at Rs. 99,000.
The 15-inch MacBook Pro is available with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of memory, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, and 500GB hard drive starting at Rs 122,900 inc VAT; and with a 2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of memory, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, and 750GB hard drive starting at Rs 152,900.
